At 12:45 the lights go off in my room of three- and four-year-olds, and that nap-time hour is when I stock tomorrow's coloring center. My kids need thick lines and big shapes, nothing tiny. Every book below is a free download from Creative Fabrica: digital files I print at school.

This is where the Christmas part of my list starts, because our classroom turns into a snowy forest the first week of December. Sixteen pages of sweet little reindeer with simple shapes and cheerful details around them. Easy enough for three-year-olds, and they love adding their own dots and hearts.

Eighty-five simple Christmas pages on square 8.5 by 8.5, with no repeated images: Santa, reindeer, snowmen, stockings, candy canes, Christmas trees, ornaments and penguins. It is the biggest Christmas book on my list and the one I would take first.
Three hundred snowman pages at 8.5 by 11, as PNG and PDF, in black and white: tall snowmen, round snowmen, snowmen in hats, scarves and mittens. Honestly more snowmen than one class needs, and I still print from it every winter.
Sixteen reindeer pages at 8.5 by 11: reindeer standing, leaping and resting in snowy holiday scenes. They are drawn with more detail than number 14, so they go to my older fours.
Ten hand-drawn Christmas pages at 8.5 by 11, for ages 1 to 10: Santa popping out of a chimney, Santa's sleigh full of presents and more. Few pages, but the drawings are sweet and simple, and they make the prettiest cover for our December take-home folder.
If I were stocking a coloring center from scratch, I would print one big farm book (number 1), one shape book (number 8), one toddler book for the youngest, and one Christmas book before December. Refill one basket at a time, keep the crayons chunky, and let the kids choose their own page. Keep this list for the next nap time you have an hour and an empty basket.
